You can now submit a voluntary residency termination notice yourself in the ePróspera portal. Open Settings → Account, review the requirements, verify your identity, and select Submit residency termination notice when you are ready.
This guide covers personal Próspera residency, including supported Resident, e-Resident, and Limited e-Resident agreements. The portal checks the exact agreement you signed and the records on your account. If it cannot confirm those records, support must review your case.
You can end your residency and keep your ePróspera account. The controls currently appear inside a section headed Deactivate account, but Submit residency termination notice and Deactivate account perform separate actions. Use the termination button to end residency. Account deactivation is optional and requires a separate confirmation.
What you are choosing
Submitting a termination notice starts the process of ending your Próspera residency under your supported signed agreement. Once completed, your residency is no longer active. Returning later requires a separate residency application and any applicable payment and approval steps; signing in again does not restore residency.
| Action | What it does |
|---|---|
| Submit residency termination notice | Records notice and ends residency immediately or after the applicable notice period, subject to a final eligibility check. |
| Cancel termination notice | Withdraws a pending notice while cancellation is available. It cannot restore a residency that has already ended. |
| Deactivate account | Separately stops portal access once residency and other closure requirements are resolved. It is optional. |
| Sign in after residency ends | Allows continued use of your active account for the functions still available to you. It does not reinstate residency. |
Termination preserves your account identity, Resident Permit Number (RPN), government records, billing history, and audit history. Existing obligations remain due. It does not automatically refund paid fees, cancel separate insurance contracts, dissolve a business, or transfer your responsibilities to someone else.
Before you begin
- Use your own existing account and make sure you can complete its sign-in process. A support representative viewing your account cannot perform your self-service identity confirmation for you.
- Review your latest invoices, required tax filings, and any open applications or service requests.
- Decide whether you want the portal's displayed termination date. There is currently no date picker or “end at the end of my paid period” option. If you need a later date, have an earlier support agreement, or want a previous notice reviewed, contact support before submitting.
- Keep copies of the confirmations and records you may need. A termination request does not erase those records or decide every privacy or retention question.
Step by step: submit your notice
Open Settings → Account
Sign in to the portal, open Settings, select Account, and scroll to Deactivate account. This section contains the residency termination controls as well as the separate account-deactivation control.
Read your residency status and checklist
If it says Your residency is active, review every listed requirement. Select a linked requirement to open the relevant area, resolve it, and return to Settings. The portal will not accept a notice while a termination blocker remains.
If it says Your residency has already ended, there is no residency notice left to submit. If it shows future or multiple residency records, ask support to review them.
Check the effective date
Read Earliest termination. The portal displays the date and time in Honduras time. It calculates the date from your signed agreement when you submit; a date shown before submission is not a reserved appointment.
Some supported agreements allow immediate termination. Others require seven complete 24-hour days. Do not assume you will always have seven days to change your mind.
Verify your identity
Select Verify identity if shown, complete the normal sign-in challenge using your original login identity, and return to the Account page. If verification expires before you submit, repeat it. Never send a password, sign-in code, or recovery code to support.
Read and confirm the consequences
Read the notice about the effective date, billing, and retained records, then select the acknowledgment checkbox. This section also explains the loss of access caused by the separate account-deactivation action. Submitting the residency notice alone keeps your account active.
Select Submit residency termination notice
Submit only when you are ready for the displayed policy to apply. For a zero-day agreement, residency may end during this action. The system checks eligibility again before accepting and completing the request.
Check the resulting status
Look for Your request has been saved and the residency status. A notice with a waiting period shows Termination scheduled for… and its exact date. Completion shows Your residency has already ended. A saved request is not by itself proof of completed termination.
Confirmation emails are queued automatically. The accepted portal submission records your notice; receiving or replying to an email is not an additional submission step. If email is delayed, check the status in Settings and your spam folder.
When does termination take effect?
The supported agreement versions currently use these notice periods. Read the date on your own Account page because the exact signed version, signature evidence, and current eligibility control the result.
| Signed personal agreement | Version date | Notice period |
|---|---|---|
| Limited e-Resident | August 29, 2024 | No waiting period |
| Limited e-Resident | October 20, 2022 | No waiting period |
| e-Resident | June 28, 2022 | Seven full days |
| Resident | August 29, 2024 | No waiting period |
| Resident | June 28, 2022 | Seven full days |
For a seven-day policy, notice accepted on a Tuesday at 3:00 p.m. Honduras time reaches its scheduled effective time the following Tuesday at 3:00 p.m.: 168 elapsed hours. It is not midnight on the seventh calendar date or seven business days.
A zero-day policy can complete immediately after submission. A background process also checks due requests regularly, so a scheduled date can arrive shortly before the portal displays completion. Check the resulting status before assuming residency has ended.
Can I stop at the end of a paid year or choose a future date?
The current self-service form schedules the agreement's earliest termination date. It does not choose the end of your paid period, accept a custom date, or backdate termination to an earlier email or move abroad. Contact support before submitting if that is your intended outcome. Include the desired date and any existing ticket reference so support can reconcile the request with your records.
If the checklist blocks submission
A blocker identifies something that needs resolution or review. It does not mean you need to delete your account or create another one.
| What the portal asks you to resolve | What to do |
|---|---|
| Outstanding payment obligations | Open Billing, review the amounts and periods, and resolve the obligation or ask support to investigate an incorrect charge. |
| Payments still processing or requiring review | Allow settlement to finish. For an unresolved payment, give support its reference; do not pay again solely to clear the checklist. |
| Overdue required tax filings | Open Tax and complete the required periods. If you believe a requirement is incorrect or not applicable, request a review. A payment alone does not submit a missing return. |
| Submitted applications | Complete or withdraw them through the applicable workflow. Ask support if withdrawal is unavailable. Unsubmitted drafts alone do not block termination. |
| Active management, representation, or registered-agent duties | End or transfer the applicable duties. Passive ownership alone is not a blocker. |
| Integration ownership | Ask support to arrange an ownership transfer for an integration you own. |
| Insurance requirement | Resolve the coverage requirement under your signed agreement. Termination does not automatically cancel a separate policy. |
| Outstanding service or review | Ask support which record needs action. This can include a pending address change, annual report, tax service, insurance/regulatory case, or a legacy subscription. |
| Signed agreement or retained identity record | Ask support to verify the existing evidence. Repeated sign-in will not repair a missing agreement or retained identity record. |
| Multiple or future residencies | Ask support to reconcile the residency records before proceeding. |
| Internal staff access | Arrange staff offboarding through the responsible team. |
See Filing Taxes in ePróspera and Tax Compliance for tax workflows. Use the exact period and message shown on your account when requesting help.
During a notice period
You retain portal access while the notice is pending. Continue resolving obligations and check Settings if your circumstances change. Conflicting new residency applications or operational responsibilities may be restricted.
At completion, eligibility is checked again. If a new obligation or unresolved record prevents completion, the page shows Termination needs attention with a checklist and the original requested date. Your residency has not ended through that request. Resolve the issue; the system checks again automatically. Completion after a blocker clears does not backdate your termination to the original scheduled date.
Renewal charges can continue while termination is blocked. A scheduled date or support message alone is not evidence that a blocked request completed.
Change your mind before completion
Open the same Account section, verify your identity again if prompted, select the acknowledgment checkbox, and choose Cancel termination notice while available. Confirm that the scheduled notice is no longer shown.
Cancellation is available before the effective time, and for a blocked notice. A zero-day notice may complete too quickly to cancel. Once residency has ended, cancellation cannot undo it; contact support about applying again.
Payments, renewals, and insurance
The billing cutoff depends on the start of the renewal period and when termination takes effect, not the day an invoice or reminder was sent.
- Renewal periods starting before effective termination remain payable.
- Future residency renewals starting at or after effective termination are stopped. Applicable unpaid future renewal invoices attributed to that residency are voided.
- If you cancel a notice or termination becomes blocked, deferred renewal billing resumes. Additional amounts can become due while residency remains active.
- Paid invoices and earlier debts remain on record. Termination does not automatically issue a refund, a prorated credit, or compensation for unused time.
- Separate insurance contracts follow their own cancellation process. Ask the insurer or support about those terms.
For example, with effective termination on November 1 at 10:00 a.m., a renewal period beginning October 31 is before the cutoff; one beginning November 1 at 10:00 a.m. is at the cutoff. This is an illustration, not a date selected for your account.
Moving abroad or asking about tax residency
This workflow records termination of your Próspera residency. It does not itself determine tax residence in another country, revise a tax certificate, waive historical tax obligations, or resolve an existing tax-service request.
If you are moving, have a tax-residency certificate, or already asked support to cancel a tax-related service, include that context in your support request. Ask the tax/support team to confirm any additional steps and how your requested date will be handled. The self-service notice does not replace a separate review of those issues.
After termination
Check for Your residency has already ended in Settings and retain the confirmation. You can keep your account active to access the functions still available to you and deal with remaining records or obligations. You do not need to press Deactivate account to finish residency termination.
If you also want to stop account access, follow Terminate Residency and Deactivate Your Account. Deactivation revokes sessions, personal API keys, and connected-app authorizations. Restoring account access later does not restore residency or those authorizations.
Official records, your RPN, billing history, and audit history remain retained. For access to retained records or privacy requests, use Contact support or request access to retained records. Retention does not mean every category of information is kept indefinitely.
Troubleshooting and getting help
The submit button is disabled. Check for outstanding requirements, complete Verify identity if shown, and select the acknowledgment checkbox. Wait for any action already in progress. Refresh the page if a completed requirement still appears.
I see “The action could not be completed.” Refresh the checklist and verify your identity again. Check whether a request was already saved before trying to submit another one. Contact support if the error continues.
The scheduled time passed but residency still looks active. Check for a “needs attention” message and refresh the page. If there is no explanation and the status remains unchanged, contact support with the scheduled time and your ticket reference.
I cannot access my original login. Use support's verified recovery process. Creating a second account will not transfer or terminate your existing residency.
Open the Help Center chat or use the support link in the Account section. Include:
- Your account email and RPN, if available.
- The checklist message or error exactly as shown.
- Your intended termination date, especially if you want to finish a paid period.
- The displayed scheduled date in Honduras time and any previous ticket number.
- A screenshot of the relevant message, with unrelated personal information hidden.
Do not send passwords, one-time codes, recovery codes, or full payment-card details. Support can review your records and explain the next step; self-service submission requires you to sign in and confirm for yourself.
